Did you know that horse vocalizations are very important?
There are many types. Neighings happen when horses are being separated from each other. It is not a sound of fear, but it is the the longest and loudest of horse sounds. It is like the horse asking – where are you going?
Other types are blowing, snorting and nickering. Each has several meanings from greeting to flirting to alerts for potential dangers.
